General – Sports and prevention expert Froböse: “We are experiencing a sedentary lifestyle pandemic”

Cologne (SID) – Sports and prevention expert Ingo Froböse from the German Sport University Cologne has warned of the drastic consequences of the sports restrictions caused by the corona pandemic. “We are experiencing a sedentary lifestyle pandemic with serious consequences,” said Froböse in an interview with DFB.de.

Froböse criticizes the closings of the sports facilities in the corona lockdown, through which children in particular are looking for other activities. “Playing” then no longer takes place physically, but mostly only digitally.

Froböse also warned that the current sedentary lifestyle could overload the health system in the years to come. He therefore spoke out in favor of reopening the sports facilities, since “the risk of infection with organized exercise, which can take place in a sports club, tends towards zero”.

The 64-year-old pointed out that there could be not only physical consequences, especially for children and adolescents, but also psychological ones: “Child development must be created through body imprinting, otherwise we will have a long-term problem. If you do not learn to play at a young age and Not learning things like victory or defeat, friend or foe, respect, fairness or responsibility, is bad for development because it is things that shape personality and affect emotions. ”

Froböse would like sports to have a voice and “life and laughter” to be brought back into society.
