Housing starts jumped 19.4% to 1.74 million units in March, against a consensus of 1.61 million and a level of 1.457 million reported a month earlier. According to government data, building permits stood at 1.766 million, against 1.75 million consensus and 1.72 million a month earlier. Solid data for the construction market in the United States which wiped out the negative blow of February, a month marked by unfavorable weather conditions.
