Square Enix is not considering an acquisition or sale, including parts of the company. That says the publisher after reporting in the media. On Thursday, a business website wrote that there were several interested parties in Square Enix.
In a short response writes Square Enix Holdings, Square Enix’s Japanese parent company, that no third-party bids have been received, and that the company has no plans to sell Square Enix or any portion thereof.
Square Enix says it is responding to reports from Bloomberg, but the takeover rumors originally appeared on Thursday on CTFN, a website about acquisitions.
CTFN claimed that several knowledgeable bankers have said that Square Enix is in talks with parties for an acquisition. Bloomberg published on its Japanese site a short article on CTFN’s post and on its English site Bloomberg wrote that Square Enix’s share rose after the release of the rumors by CTFN.
