The current COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the relevance, rationale and necessity of Resolution 2 of the 33rd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, titled “Responding to Mental Health Needs and psychosocial support for people affected by armed conflict, natural disasters and other emergencies ”. Adopted unanimously by States and National Societies, this resolution calls for increased efforts to meet mental health and psychosocial support needs. As a result of the uncertainty and the additional anxiety and stress it causes, the COVID-19 pandemic has shed new light on the needs for mental health and psychosocial support in the public debate. Today more than ever, the multiple and complex humanitarian needs highlight the importance of providing a holistic and integrated response to the diverse mental health and psychosocial support needs of people affected by armed conflict, natural disasters. and other emergencies.
