After a number of leaks and trailers directly from the carmaker, the electric Mercedes-Benz EQS shows itself in all its beauty.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is becoming a new electric flagship, after all, the German carmaker itself speaks of the novelty as an alternative to the S-Class.
EQS is currently presented in two versions. The first is called 450+, has a power of 245 kW and rear-wheel drive. For more demanding customers, the 580 4Matic version with an ATV and 385 kW output is ready. However, the creators do not end there either, they also plan a high-performance version with a power of 560 kW! Both available versions are agile. The weaker accelerates from rest to a hundred in 6.1 seconds, the stronger can do it in 4.3 s. The maximum speed is limited to 210 km / h.

The two available batteries have a usable capacity of 90 and 107.8 kWh, respectively, and according to WLTP they promise a range of up to 770 kilometers on a single charge. The creators talk about new generation batteries with significantly higher energy density. The batteries are said to be 26% more efficient than in the electric SUV EQC. The battery management software was developed by the company itself and can be updated wirelessly. And sustainability was also considered, so for example the share of cobalt was reduced to only ten percent.
Despite state-of-the-art technology, the Mercedes EQS uses “only” a 400V architecture. But even it can offer a maximum charging power of up to 200 kW. The on-board charger has 11 kW as standard, you can pay extra for double. You can then charge from 0 to 80% in 31 minutes on the quick charger. A quarter of an hour at a fast charging stand will deliver 300 kilometers.

The car arrives on a brand new EVA electric platform. It is 5.2 meters long, 1.93 m wide and 1.5 m high. It is therefore a good piece of car, whose luggage space has a volume of 610 liters. But you do not have to worry about worse manipulation in the streets of the city. As standard, the car receives a swivel rear axle, where the rear wheels swivel to an angle of up to 4.5 degrees. You can pay extra for an even more sophisticated solution that can handle up to ten degrees. Under the front hood, you would look in vain for a suitcase. Actually, you don’t just look here, because its opening is reserved for trained service only. This will fill the washer fluid through the flap in the left front fender.
But that is just the beginning. Mercedes boasts that the flagship electric car has undergone rigorous testing, resulting in a drag coefficient Cd of 0.20. According to the manufacturer, the EQS is thus the most aerodynamic production car in history. An impressive number is also remembered by Mercedes in connection with the ATV. It controls the operation of electric motors 10,000 times per minute and allows many times faster response than mechanical all-wheel drive.
Of course, those interested will not be deprived of a number of additional items with which they can further improve their luxury electric car. For example, automatic comfort doors are available on request, which you can open remotely via a smartphone.

We can’t forget the huge 56-inch Hyperscreen, which can be equipped with a car for an additional fee. Yes, it’s the huge display across the entire dashboard. It features the latest version of the MBUX multimedia system, including, of course, online updates and voice control in Czech.
The lighting technology was not depleted either. The EQS receives digital LED lights with three powerful modules in each light. There are 1.3 million micromirrors in each headlight for orientation, so the headlights can render an image with a resolution of 2.6 million pixels. There will definitely be something to discover on the flagship electric car during the first tests. But we don’t know yet if we will see him on Czech roads this year.
