The fiftieth birthday of Queen Máxima will be celebrated next month with a musical show on television. From Carré in Amsterdam, Emma Heesters and Carel Kraayenhof, among others, perform with children, AVROTROS announced on Thursday.

Queen Máxima: A Life Full of Music is presented by Buddy Vedder and will be broadcast on NPO1 on May 16, one day before Máxima’s birthday.

Tania Kross, Jeroen van der Boom, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Emma Heesters, Glen Faria and Roel van Velzen, among others, appear on the scene. Also Carel Kraayenhof, known for his performance of Goodbye Nonino during the wedding of King Willem-Alexander with Máxima, is present.

The program is dedicated to Máxima’s work for Méér Muziek in de Klas, of which she has been honorary chairman for years. In this role, the Queen advocates the importance of music education in primary schools.

In addition to performances, there are reports about the role music plays in the lives of a number of well-known Dutch people who are successful in other areas than music, such as André Kuipers and Shanice van de Sanden.
