KUPANG, KOMPAS.com – The Constitutional Court (MK) ordered the General Election Commission (KPU) to hold re-vote in the implementation of the Election of Regent and Deputy Regent of Sabu Raijua in 2020.

Voting again It was only followed by two pairs of candidates after the Constitutional Court disqualified the candidate pair number 2, namely Orient Patriot Riwu Kore and Thobias Uly.

The head of the NTT KPU, Thomas Dohu, said that his party had made internal preparations after hearing the Constitutional Court’s decision.

“Next we will coordinate internally, to then enter into decision -making by KPU Sabu Raijua,” Thomas told Kompas.com in Kupang, Thursday (15/4/2021) night.

Furthermore, said Thomas, it will begin with a decision on the stages of implementing re-voting and a decision on determining the voter list.

The stages, from the re-appointment of the ad hoc committee with the honorarium, then the procurement of logistics and ballot papers as well as technical guidance for PPK, PPS and KPPS, as well as logistics distribution.

“The most important thing is that we make preparations for the implementation stages of re-voting, accompanied by coordination of budget support. That is the most urgent, “said Thomas.

For the budget, the KPU will propose to the local government.

Thomas predicts that the re-voting budget will be smaller than the 2020 Pilkada, because the adhoc committee only works for 60 days.

“Previously it lasted for eight months, so the budget was around Rp. 15 billion. But now it’s only 60 days, so the budget is smaller,” he said.

He hopes that the re-voting process can run well and smoothly.

Previously, the Constitutional Court ordered the KPU to hold a vote again in the implementation of the 2020 Sabu Raijua Regent and Deputy Regent Election.

This was decided in the decision session on the case submitted by candidate pair number 3, namely Takem Radja Pono and Herman Hegi Radja Haba.

As for the re -voting, it can only be followed by Candidate Couple Number 1 Nikodemus N Rihi Heke and Yohanis Uly Kale.

As well as Candidate Pair Number 3 Takem Radja Pono and Herman Hegi Radja Haba. Meanwhile Orient and Thobias were disqualified by the Constitutional Court.
