Gabriel Sandu from Pronto Mobile, Carrefour’s largest franchisee, sells 10 stores to Profi, a direct competitor of the French in the small store segment. Entrepreneur Gabriel Sandu is not in his first transaction, he previously sold a telecom retailer to Vodafone

Retailer Profi, the largest player in local trade, with more than 1,400 small units, bought 10 stores from Carrefour’s largest franchisee, Pronto Mobile, owned by entrepreneur Gabriel Sandu. The transaction is on the table of the Competition Council.

Pronto Mobile operates 15 convenience stores under the umbrella of the Carrefour Express franchise. Of these, ten were bought by Profi.

Gabriel Sandu opened its first online store in 2013 and then expanded rapidly. It has not inaugurated new units since 2014 because the Carrefour group has not expanded into franchising, he said last year. This year he was talking about a resumption of expansion under the Carrefour umbrella. Now the businessman did not want to comment on the reasons behind the sale.

For Gabriel Sandu, this is not the first transaction, the entrepreneur selling the GSM Proton retailer to Vodafone.

For Profi, this is only the latest acquisition of local stores, over the years being the buyer of several entrepreneurial networks.
