Buffalo Sabers captain Jack Eichel will not be returning this season as he will need surgery shortly for a herniated neck that has kept him out since March 7.
According to the affected team, a hasty surgery will allow the striker to get back into shape faster, so he will be ready in time for the next campaign.
The forward has been in trouble this year, like the Sabers, which sit last in the overall standings of the National Hockey League. In 21 games, he had two goals and 16 assists for 18 points. In his last outing, against the New York Islanders, he had however extended his series of games to 4 with at least one point.
This performance is significantly lower than that of 2019-2020, when Eichel had amassed 78 points, including 36 goals, in 68 duels.
Buffalo is 10-25-7 good for 27 points.
