Facebook: request the removal of content from the supervisory board

Facebook’s supervisory board will now process content removal requests, in addition to content restoration requests.

Facebook announced it on Tuesday via a blog post, users will now be able to appeal to the supervisory board of the social network to remove content. The old appeal process could only be used to restore deleted content on Facebook or Instagram.

What is the supervisory board?

Called Oversight Board in English, the supervisory board is the body created by Facebook to promote freedom of expression, and to decide what to remove or leave on the social networks managed by Facebook.

Currently composed of 19 members (10 men and 9 women), each representing a country, it will be enlarged to 40 members from various disciplines such as journalism, law, politics, etc.

How to appeal?
