Still in the midst of a seduction operation to restore the confidence of its users, WhatsApp is concocting new features. It is mainly group discussions that would be targeted, the messaging application working to facilitate communication between users. Zoom in on these proposals.
Towards an improvement of ephemeral messages
According to specialist support WABetainfo, the Facebook-owned messaging app is reportedly in the process of improving its ephemeral messaging option. This appeared at the end of 2020 and announced the possibility of sending temporary messages visible for 7 days. WhatsApp should now offer messages that will self-destruct after 24 hours.
An option that would have a small impact in group discussions and could help make communication more fluid. All participants could have the possibility to activate the option in the group, when until then only the administrator could. What does not change, however, is that newsgroup administrators will always have the final say on whether or not participants can benefit from this option.
The manipulation to activate or deactivate this feature will be very simple, the group administrator will have to access the parameters, in “modify group information” and will have to select one of the two options: “all participants” or “administrators only” .

Another change that could happen: stronger notifications when we are mentioned in a group chat. This type of notification already exists but often remains drowned in the middle of other notifications. WhatsApp would provide a better overview of mentions and how many mentions to review in certain groups.
This option is already present in the beta version, in full test phase and could arrive fairly quickly on Facebook instant messaging.
WhatsApp wants to reconnect
These resolutely attractive changes, which are intended to make our lives easier, come after WhatsApp saw its number of users drop drastically following its announcement to update its privacy policy.
