The mayor of the city of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, proceeded this Tuesday together with Salvador Raya and José Manuel Martín, director of institutions and regional director of BBVA, respectively, to sign the refinancing of the ICO credit of the Supplier Payment Plan, requested in 2012 for more than 10 million euros to settle the historical debt that the City Council of Gáldar had with companies for the provision of services.
With this operation the interest rate will be reduced to 0.31%, saving the City Council 570,000 euros in the remaining years of amortization until 2032.
As reported in the last plenary session by the Councilor for the Treasury, Valeria Guerra, present at said firm, thanks to this operation Gáldar abandons the adjustment plan 11 years ahead of schedule, allowing to pay off the debt without jeopardizing budget stability or the benefit of public services and, of course, the collection of the companies that provide services to the council.
