A genius ferryman, Chris Paul is also a real winner. If his record is almost blank of trophies, the leader has often made life easier for his team. A crazy statistic recently made public attests to this.
In fifteen years in the league, Chris Paul has seen a lot of teammates pass, regardless of the franchise in which he played. He also regularly saw the victories and the postseason. Again this season, he finds himself in an excellent position for the playoffs, the Suns being second in the West (38-15). An incredible performance, the cacti not having reached this stage since 2010.
A famine which is therefore on the verge of ending… and this is perhaps no accident. Indeed, it would seem that CP3 is practically a guarantee of success, or at least improvement for anyone. New Orleans, LA, Houston, OKC and now Phoenix: all of these franchises have seen their winning percentages skyrocket with the point guard in their ranks. The image below is impressive.
This is called making a difference. When you look at the subject, you realize that CP3 has participated in some of the best periods in franchise history. First there was the Hornets, who regularly reached the playoffs with Paul in charge. Of course, his time in Los Angeles was perhaps the most memorable of all, the point guard having started “Lob City” with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
If his time at the Rockets (2017-2019) was not very long, he will have participated in 2018 in the biggest regular season in the history of Houston (65-17), failing to a game (and a thigh) of the Finals. Later, during his only exercise at OKC, the Point God will take a pack of young wolves into the playoffs, while all predicted the Thunder a year of transition. And today, his Suns are in the heights of the Western Conference, having missed the endgame for years.
Not always seen as a leader or even an irreproachable teammate, Paul certainly seems to have an unmistakably positive effect on every franchise. From now on, the leader will do everything to go as far as possible with Phoenix. Who knows, maybe he can make it to the NBA Finals, one of the few things to miss among his feats of arms.
Some players are lucky charms. Chris Paul seems to be one of those. Above all, he was able to lead a good bunch of teams in the playoffs, even if he was never able to lift the NBA champion trophy. And that deserves respect.
