The intentions of sowing of the 2021/22 campaign they are not yet known, but preliminary perspectives, supported by a good water recharge due to the rains and a horizon of good international prices, indicate that wheat would maintain the surface or could even increase it.
Cereal, like all grasses, shows a high response to the use of fertilizers, and for that reason, at the same time that the sowing strategies begin to be projected, it is not necessary to delay the decision-making regarding the contribution of nutrients that will be key to achieve high yields both in quantity and quality.
In this regard, the company Compo Expert proposes the use of its Nutrition Pack: a palette of four products to strengthen wheat from sowing to harvest, in order to get its full potential.
The first, to apply in fallow, it is Basfoliar Herbiplus, a fertilizer formulated with the new AS Advance technology that enhances the action of numerous agrochemicals, especially herbicides that need an optimal pH in very low solution to be more effective and that their action is prolonged.
“It is a very high purity calcium sulfate that contains a DMPP molecule, which acts as an enhancer in the drying of weeds ”, highlights Federico Ceccon, Technical Sales Representative (RTV) of Compo Expert in Córdoba.

Then, it is the turn to strengthen the plant from the seed. In this case, with the use of Basfoliar ZN Flo is essential to provide it with a key nutrient: zinc.
“Among the microelements, it is essential and shows an increasingly marked limitation in soils. It must always be included in the fertilization plan, not only to replenish the extraction, but to help the plant to be more efficient in the use of nitrogen and, therefore, improve protein levels “Ceccon adds.
The recommendation is to apply some 300 cubic centimeters per 100 kilos of seed which, according to the tests carried out by Compo Expert, ensure a yield plus of around 280 kilos per hectare more than a control lot without treatment. “It is too little investment to earn a lot,” he sums up.
Planting and leaves
Once the pre-planting tasks have been completed, the Nutrition Pack also suggests the use of Easy Start, a microgranulated fertilizer that works as a “starter” to be incorporated into the planting line, with even a dose of between 20 and 25 kilos per hectare.
According to Ceccon, the variety of nutrients that incorporates is broad: nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, zinc, iron and manganese, among others.
“The advantage of using only 20 to 25 kilos per hectare is that you save a lot of logistics. In other similar products you have to use 100 or 200 kilos. We do not take as much capacity from the planter and it is not necessary to carry a hopper and a tractor to move the fertilizers ”, says Ceccon.
Finally, the Pack is completed with Basfoliar Wheat for fertilizations from tillering to flag leaf. It is a product composed of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micronutrients, soluble, for foliar application, with a dose of two kilos per hectare and that is compatible with fungicides or insecticides.
Compo Expert trials, says Ceccon, show that in the south of Buenos Aires, with this comprehensive treatment, they have achieved yields of 5,300 kilos, above the 4,800 kilos of a “model” treatment from a producer in that area.
In the core area, in Parchment, the results have been similar: a more than between 500 and 600 kilos.
