Actor Kevin Bacon (62) and his wife Kyra Sedgwick (55) are one of Hollywood’s hottest couples, but that does not mean that everything has been rosy in their relationship.
Recently, the 62-year-old was a guest on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, and there he spoke the former “American Idol” winner about the engagement and marriage of his wife, who is also a movie star.
– I remember that I proposed to her on Christmas Eve. At that time we were very interested in Christmas stockings, so I put the ring at the bottom of the stocking. Thus, she first had to get through a bunch of useless shit. At the bottom, there she found an engagement ring, Bacon tells Clarkson.
Kept it hidden
The actor says that he did not want anyone else to know that he was about to date, so he told nothing to either friends or family.
The downside with that, he believes, was that he had to find – and buy – an engagement ring all on his own.
– I finally found a ring that I thought was absolutely perfect. I thought, “I did it, I did it.” I gave it to her and she was incredibly moved, cried and luckily said “yes”.
Three months later, however, something dramatic happened, when Bacon woke up in the middle of the night because Sedgewick was lying in tears in bed. The sight made him anxious to say the least.

Feared breach
– She cried and cried, and at first could not even tell me what was wrong. I thought, “Oh, my God, what’s going on?” I thought maybe she was about to end it with me, I do not really know what went through my head, admits the “Footloose” star, who finally got an answer to what was wrong.
– I talked to her and said that of course it’s all right. That we could go back to the store and exchange it. She felt absolutely awful.

The couple eventually got the ring changed, and got married as far back as 1988.
In addition to “Footloose”, Bacon has starred in a number of major films, including “Hollow Man”, “X-Men”, “Field Summer”, “Sleepers” and “Wild Thing”. Kyra Sedgwick has starred in, among others, “The Game Plan”, “The Phenomenon” and “Born July 4”.
