Updated Official Information on COVID-19: Report Monday, April 12, 2021
The COE for the prevention of Coronavirus and Dengue updated the official information on the provincial epidemiological situation and the prevention and containment works that are carried out throughout the territory of Catamarca in the framework of the fight against Dengue and COVID-19.
Until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 190 new positive cases of coronavirus have been detected in the province of Catamarca. The accumulated total of positive cases detected amounts to 13,084.
It is reported that three people died today: two at the José Chaín Herrera Hospital in Andalgalá and one at the San Juan Bautista Hospital, all men. In Andalgalá, a 49-year-old man (with no medical history) and a 74-year-old man (with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure, COPD and obesity) died, both from COVID-19 pneumonia.
At the San Juan Bautista Hospital, the death of a 72-year-old man, a native of Capayán, who suffered from asthma and heart failure, was recorded. He died after 4 days of hospitalization, due to severe COVID-19 pneumonia.
Of the 190 positive cases detected today, 103 were confirmed by PCR tests processed in the Central Laboratory of the Ministry of Health; 87 by antigen test, 69 of them performed in the public health system and 18 processed in private laboratories.
The positive cases detected today correspond to Capital (85), Andalgalá (24), Santa María (23), Valle Viejo (18), La Paz (16), Pomán (6), Belén (5) Tinogasta (5), Fray Mamerto Esquiú (4), Antofagasta de la Sierra (2), Capayán (1) and El Alto (1).
Until 6 pm today, 84 new recovered patients were registered: 46 from Capital, 16 from Pomán, 14 from Belén, 6 from Valle Viejo and 2 from Fray Mamerto Esquiú. For this reason, taking into account the sum of recovered cases and deceased persons to date, 3,302 cases are considered active cases.
All the patients housed in the hospitalization and isolation areas of the Carlos Malbrán Hospital until 6:00 p.m. are positive cases of COVID-19. Eight patients are admitted to the ICU with a positive diagnosis for coronavirus, all of them with Mechanical Respiratory Assistance.
Vaccination Campaign
Regarding the progress of the vaccination campaign for COVID-19 in the province, the Ministry of Health reports that until April 12, 55,964 doses were applied. They were applied to a total of 48,761 people (Source: NOMIVAC).
