The latest models in Apple’s iPhone 12 series took the top three spots in the world’s best-selling smartphone category in January 2021, Counterpoint Research revealed in its Market Pulse Report. The report reveals that the iPhone 12 took the top spot, followed by the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro (Review) in second and third place respectively. The iPhone 12 series in total is said to have contributed 71% of Apple’s total sales in January of this year. Besides iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 (Review) and iPhone SE 2020 (Review) was also included in the “list of the 10 best-selling smartphone models in the world”.

The report adds that this is because of the delayed launch of the iPhone 12 series and the increased demand for 5G phones which has driven sales up. The iPhone 12 mini was also on the list, but took eighth place. The report suggests that the iPhone 12 mini didn’t attract a lot of buyers because of its “smaller screen and lower battery capacity.”
Xiaomi’s Redmi 9A and Redmi 9 also took a place in the list. According to the report, smartphones contributed 25% of Xiaomi’s total sales during this month. On top of that, Samsung Galaxy A31 and Galaxy A21 also secured a place in the list.
