Contact restrictions and curfews
The emergency brake includes strict contact restrictions and curfews. The members of a household are then only allowed to meet with one other person, but no more than five people. Children under the age of 14 do not count. Night curfews from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. are to apply in affected districts and urban districts. Only “justified exceptions” are allowed, including medical emergencies, professional reasons or the care of animals.

Restrictions in daycare centers and schools – and exceptions
Day care centers and schools can be closed if there are high numbers of infections. In principle, face-to-face teaching should then be prohibited unless the responsible authorities have set up emergency care. However, this may only include 20 percent of the “regularly supervised or schooled”.

A special regulation allows more face-to-face lessons for close-knit rapid tests: however, the negative test results must not be older than 36 hours. This possibility does not apply if the incidence of seven days is greater than 200 on three consecutive days.

Shops have to close – with the exception of basic services
Shops and “markets with customer traffic for trade, service and craft offers” such as hardware stores are no longer allowed to open in the Corona hotspots. The food trade as well as beverage markets, health food stores, pharmacies, drug stores and petrol stations will remain exempt from the measures.

Leisure offers close
Animal parks, theaters, cinemas and museums have to close. Leisure facilities such as swimming pools or clubs are also not allowed to open. In principle, sport with members of another household is prohibited. An exception to this is “the practice of individual sports that are practiced alone, in pairs or with members of your own household”. Professional sport can take place, but still without spectators.

Only out-of-home sales in restaurants – no tourism
Restaurants and company canteens are no longer allowed to receive guests. The “delivery and delivery of take-away food and drinks” is permitted. “Accommodation offers for tourist purposes are prohibited”, it says in the “formulation aid” of the federal government.

Employers must enable home office
As many people as possible should work at home. According to the government’s proposal, the employer must make this possible “if there are no compelling operational reasons”.
