They arrest the parents of a girl injured in a traffic accident who was not in a child seat | Courts

The Civil Guard has arrested the parents of a girl who was serious injury in a traffic accident and that she was apparently not sitting in a specific child restraint seat.

The accident It was produced on the Canary Island of La Palma when two vehicles collided head-on, one of which, for rent, was occupied by both parents and their two-year-old daughter, who were on vacation on the island.

The three were evacuated to the General Hospital of La Palma, while the driver of the other car was unharmed. The girl had to be finally transferred to a hospital in Tenerife, where she was operated on.

Once the Civil Guard agents began the investigation they detected that the Child Restraint System (SRI) where the girl had to be seated was not used when the accident occurred, so they suspected that the minor was sitting in the back seat left, between his mother and the seat belt, according to the external injuries he presented.

The Civil Guard proceeded to the arrest of both parents as allegedly responsible for the injuries produced to his daughter for gross recklessness.

The armed institute adds that the mother has confirmed that she sat her daughter with her, putting the seat belt over her, which, according to the Civil Guard, is “extremely dangerous.”
