With thousands of additional appointments, the pace of corona vaccinations in Hamburg is to be increased. According to the social services agency, more vaccine deliveries have arrived.
“The more appointments we can now carry out, the faster we can make progress in prioritizing,” said Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) on Saturday. For the coming week alone, an additional 16,000 appointments have been activated in the vaccination center in the exhibition halls, and a further 35,000 for the week from April 19. “We want to provide as many people in Hamburg as possible with a vaccination as quickly as possible,” said Leonhard. After the delivery of further vaccine doses, the hospitals could now vaccinate in-patient and day-patient patients in addition to their own staff, according to the current prioritization, the authority said. The range of vaccinations is aimed in particular at patients from the fields of early rehabilitation, geriatrics, oncology, and psychiatry.
Currently around 266,000 people in Hamburg have received at least one primary vaccination, 103,000 of them – and thus 5.6 percent of the population – also the second dose necessary for a complete vaccination.
