NEW YORK – A 29-year-old Bronx man was charged with stabbing his 6-year-old quadriplegic son and attacking a 16-year-old teenager with whom he had been smoking marijuana in her apartment, and then refused to let her go, according to the prosecution accusation.
Tyree Scott was indicted Tuesday on charges including attempted murder, battery and unlawful imprisonment in a nightmare that lasted two days in early February, Bronx prosecutors say. According to the indictment, Scott was allegedly drinking and smoking marijuana with the teenager (it is unclear how he knew her or why the minor was with him in the apartment) around 5 p.m. on February 1.
Scott allegedly refused to let the child leave the apartment that night. When she woke up the next day, he allegedly again refused to let her go. They then accuse him of hitting her several times on the head. The girl called 911 at the time.
When police arrived, prosecutors say Scott barricaded himself in the home with the girl and her disabled 6-year-old son, then allegedly stabbed her son multiple times with a screwdriver, piercing his heart, according to court documents.
The cops managed to break in and arrested Scott. The boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition and required surgery to repair the penetration of the heart, authorities said.
“The defendant allegedly beat a teenage girl and stabbed his own defenseless son, who is a quadriplegic. The defendant also refused to allow the victim
and the boy left his apartment when police arrived, “Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said in a statement.” Fortunately, the boy survived, but required surgery and is still hospitalized. “
Bail for Scott was set at $ 500,000 after arraignment Friday morning. He must return to court in May. The attorney’s information was not immediately available.
