Since the beginning of the pandemic until the beginning of March, almost 800 applications for support from the so-called Corona financial aid of the Free State have been made, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Science of the German Press Agency. Around 350 of the applications were approved and a total of around 280,000 euros were paid out to students. From this aid fund, students can receive a maximum of 800 euros at once – consisting of a grant and a loan portion of 50 percent each. “The country’s corona financial aid can also be applied for several times,” said the spokesman. At the same time, the students in Thuringia had to continue to pay their semester fees as they did before the pandemic – although part of the money goes into a semester ticket that many students are currently unable to use as they were before the crisis. Much more teaching is now taking place digitally than in the past. However, according to a dpa survey, there were no major discussions about the semester fees. © dpa-infocom, dpa: 210410-99-149717 / 2 — .
