José Luis Vargas, was the only magistrate who voted in favor of Félix Salgado in the TEPJF
The president of the Electoral Court of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) , Jose Luis Vargas, was the only magistrate who voted in favor of Félix Salgado Macedonio and against canceling his registration as a candidate for governor of Guerrero.
During the session of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power, where it was agreed to request the OTHER To reassess the case of Félix Salgado Macedonio and confirm or not the cancellation of his registration as a candidate, Vargas came out in defense of the morenista.
For the electoral magistrate, Salgado Macedonio did present (albeit late) his expense report, and also considered that withdrawing the candidacy as the INE did was an excessive sanction.
Already came out @JL_VargasV to defend Félix Salgado Macedonio.
It is not surprising but it is still regrettable.
It says that Salgado did present his report, which would open the door to a lesser penalty than cancellation.

In addition, Vargas argued that the INE violated Félix Salgado Macedonio’s right to a hearing.
Judge Vargas has been under controversy for months for being subject to an investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), who detected that the magistrate bought residences in Miami, Valle de Bravo, Lomas de Chapultepec and Polanco, with money that does not match his income.
Last December, Judge Vargas appeared at the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Corruption of the General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) for the investigation of alleged illicit enrichment against him.
“More than an electoral magistrate, Vargas seems to be his legal aid lawyer,” wrote UNAM professor Javier Martín Reyes on his Twitter account.
