Purchase of vaccines: the Buenos Aires government now says that …

After what Santiago Cafiero make it clear that the provinces were never prohibited from buying vaccines, something confirmed by the city’s Health Minister himself Fernan Quirós, it was clear that the claim of Patricia bullrich and much of the leadership of Juntos por el Cambio was just another political attempt to weaken the vaccination campaign.

Concerned about reducing damage, Buenos Aires officials such as the Deputy Head of Government, Diego Santilli, and the Chief of Staff, Felipe Miguel, now assure that the City authorities will communicate with international laboratories to manage the purchase of different vaccines against the coronavirus. They did not explain, of course, why they did not do it before.

The supposed novelty takes place after the interdict between Chief of Staff Santiago Cafiero and Patricia Bullrich, who earlier this week complained via Twitter: “I told the president 20 times: let the provinces buy the vaccine. Let the labs buy. Let the pharmacies buy. The most effective system of distribution of the vaccine in the United States are the pharmacy chains ”. With those words, the President of the Pro proposed to once again discredit the health campaign of the national government, ensuring that the Nation prohibited the purchase of vaccines from provinces, municipalities and private institutions. In response, Cafiero said Wednesday that the reproach was false: that the law allows it, but that the acquisition is difficult to carry out because the market does not supply even with the purchases made by the States as such.

In the framework of the press conference that he gave this Thursday with the head of Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, the Buenos Aires Minister of Health Fernán Quirós gave the government the right national: “Today this does not find a solution in the market, so it is an abstract debate. The companies have committed all their production. The contracts would be at the end of the year or next year,” he said. In this way he exposed Patricia Bullrich and the other members of the macrismo who had been using that argument.

“We are going to walk the road to get vaccines but we do not believe it will be immediately,” said now the Buenos Aires deputy head of government, Diego Santilli, in America TV. He did not bother to explain why they did not do it before, a path that the province of Cordoba had traveled unsuccessfully for months, and that was also claimed several times by the President himself. “If they have, as they say, such good contacts with the world, why don’t they use them to get vaccines for all Argentines?” Alberto Fernández asked ironically in the face of opposition claims against the vaccination campaign.

“We are waiting for the agreements that were signed last year and for the vaccines to arrive. The path that we are going to start is positive, but it is not that the vaccines will arrive tomorrow ”, Santilli covered, who knows that international laboratories have committed their production for many months.

The Buenos Aires chief of staff, Felipe Miguel, contributed his own by radio Network: “Knowing how difficult it is going to be, let’s try it.” “We are going to make all possible efforts to acquire vaccines,” he assured in an electoral tone, aware that any intervention in the health market will not have effects to face the current emergency.
