Martijn Koning believes that RTL channel boss Peter van der Vorst should take his responsibility in the case surrounding Thierry Baudet, he tells NU.nl. The comedian says she has indeed offered Eva Jinek to view the roast of the FVD leader last month, but Van der Vorst claimed at BNR Nieuwsradio that the editors were asked several times in vain to view the text.
RTL informed NU.nl at the beginning of April that the editors of Jinek wanted to talk to Koning. The comedian says he now sees no benefit in a conversation with the editorial staff. “I don’t set any conditions at all. I just don’t want to talk to people who have nothing to do with it and who can’t speak on behalf of RTL.”
King was asked to ‘roast’ Baudet in a comical way, but the comedian’s words went wrong and led the politician to leave the studio angrily. RTL distanced itself from the content. A day later, Jinek apologized to Baudet and said that from now on she wants to know in broad terms what her guests are going to say.
King told in On 1 that he had offered Jinek the opportunity to inspect the roast. He informed NU.nl that on that evening he had contacted Jinek through the editors and that he assumed that she had received the proposal to read the roast. “She didn’t ask about it anymore that evening.”
According to Koning, the editors were aware of the scope of his roast. According to the comedian, Van der Vorst also read the texts about this later.
Koning thinks that Van der Vorst lied on the radio. “If Peter van der Vorst stops hiding under the table, this can simply be resolved. Preferably in writing, otherwise they will spread all kinds of nonsense afterwards and I can’t compete with their publicity machine.”
NU.nl is still awaiting a response from RTL.
