In May, the Bremen law firm Kessler takes on a career changer. From Dr. Mahlstedt & Partner joins Dr. Matthias Martens added. The 39-year-old joins as an equity partner.
Martens has been with Mahlstedt since 2017 and has also been a notary since this year. The notarial work in inheritance and company law now makes up the majority of his work. Both sides have known each other for a long time from working together. With its focus, Martens also fits seamlessly into Kessler’s focus areas, namely advising on corporate law and succession solutions. After the appointment of a notary a few months ago, the firm now has three notaries. The law firm had already strategically strengthened the notarial back office.
Kessler had also paved the way for the easier acceptance of a lateral entrant by converting into a GmbH. This conversion went hand in hand with the addition of four lawyers to the ranks of the managing partners: In addition to the young notary Bettina Ollmann, Luis Antonio Guijarro Santos, Jan-Philipp Lautebach and Lennart Matzke are now also responsible for the fortunes of the traditional law firm. In doing so, the law firm also silenced critics who told senior partners Dr. Arvid Siebert and Dr. Holger Sudbrink had long accused them of not offering younger lawyers sufficient prospects.
