Garage Italia Customs, Lapo Elkann’s atelier specializing in the realization of very special projects, has given a “second life” to the legendary Fiat Panda of the past through the Icon-e project, electrifying it and offering it in some exclusive models. The small Italian car continues to be the protagonist of the initiatives of Garage Italia Customs. Thus was born the Panda Integral-e.

ELECTRIC ALL-WHEEL TRACTION
The starting point is that of the Panda 4×4 but the car was mechanically turned upside down. Indeed, we find well two electric motors. The first moves the front wheels, the second (mounted behind) the rear ones. The Panda can thus count on a refined electric all-wheel drive. The 5-speed transmission of the endothermic model has obviously been removed. Two driving modes are available to the driver: Eco and Sport.
With the former, the torque is split at 80% at the front and 20% at the rear. The second, on the other hand, provides a classic four-wheel drive scheme, uniforming the distribution on both axles. Unfortunately, the powertrain data regarding power, performance, battery and range have not been disclosed. Garage Italia Customs points out that the Panda Integral-e does not have any of the original mechanical components. To select the gear (Drive, Neutral and Reverse) there are three buttons between the front seats. The charging socket is located where the fuel filler neck was originally located.

The interiors have been slightly retouched with the aim of making them even a little more refined. We find, for example, more precious coverings in Alcantara, a JBL audio system and a digital instrumentation. The exterior design, on the other hand, has no particular differences compared to that of the legendary original Fiat Panda 4×4. A very interesting project as a whole. It’s just a pity not to have all the details of the new mechanics available.
The previous Pandas electrified by Garage Italia Customs had about 100 km of autonomy and could reach 115 km / h. Although the powertrain was different, at least on the autonomy front it is conceivable that the new Integral-e also offers a very similar maximum mileage.
