At the turn of the year, Lånekassen had the lowest fixed interest rates ever. Interest rates will now be raised for the second time in 2021.
– The fixed interest rates that applied from 1 January this year were the lowest in Lånekassen’s history. We now see that fixed interest rates have risen. Fixed interest rates are still low compared with a couple of years ago, but are now increasing so that both fixed terms of five years and 10 years pass two percent again, says communications director Anette Bjerke in Lånekassen in a statement.
The fixed interest rates that apply from 1 May 2021 are:
- 3 years: 1.76 percent (up 0.19 percentage points)
- 5 years: 2.07 percent (up 0.30 percentage points)
- 10 years: 2.51 (up 0.44 percentage points)
About 9 out of 10 who pay down their student loan have a floating interest rate. 680,000 customers have floating interest rates, while 45,500 customers have fixed interest rates.
