Press release from the French Federation of Angry Bikers
“The FFMC has been saying it for years, studies show it, the technical condition of motorized two-wheelers (2WD) is a rare cause of accidents. The MAIDS report reported 0.3% of accidents studied! Despite a vote “NO” to the National Assembly and the French Senate, although France has defended this “NO” in the European Parliament, Directive 2014/45 / EU has been voted and recommends the establishment of a motorcycle inspection from January 1, 2022! However, the directive provides for a possibility of derogating from it by mentioning “alternative” measures to improve road safety for 2WD vehicles and by showing that 2WD accidents have decreased.
Many measures have been taken in France to reduce 2WD accidents. In particular, the motorcycle license has undergone a complete overhaul, implemented in 2020. The FFMC and AFDM (association for the training of motorcyclists), which defend the idea that education and training are essential, have actively participated. Many other measures, not always with the agreement of the FFMC moreover, have been taken for this purpose. In the end, despite a significant increase in the fleet of 2WD, the accident rate has indeed dropped!
Under these conditions, why would we set up a motorcycle inspection in France?
If the FFMC calls for a demonstration against the motorcycle inspection on April 10 and 11, it is to denounce the scandalous lobbying of technical inspection operators! These operators, who would benefit financially from a motorcycle inspection, are the same people who do everything to ensure that the European Parliament puts it in place: they are therefore judges and parties! It is unacceptable !”
