To open up public knowledge and understanding about the important relationship between cancer therapy and proper nutrition, the Jakarta branch of the Association of Clinical Nutritionists (PDGKI) is called to share knowledge and knowledge.

Because of that, the organization led by dr. Win Johanes MS, Sp.GK, held a webinar entitled ‘Nutrition to Support the Success of Cancer Therapy? What are the Facts? ‘ on Thursday (8/4). In this webinar, the expert speakers included dr. Umi Mangesti Tjiptoningsih, Sp. Onk. Rad and dr. Ida Gunawan, MS, SpGK (K).

“We, with the full support of Fresenius Kabi, held this webinar as an effort to broaden people’s understanding,” he said, in his remarks.

Nutrition, according to Win, is quite important to support the success of cancer therapy. So, in the webinar, patients and their families and relatives with cancer can get solutions or suggestions for the fulfillment of optimal nutrition.

According to him, cancer treatment or therapy will be maximized if the patient lives a healthy lifestyle accompanied by the fulfillment of optimal nutrition. There are several reasons these steps must be taken, ranging from maintaining an ideal body weight, to meeting energy and nutritional needs.

Win said, in this therapy, the nutrients needed by cancer patients include protein and EPA. These nutrients are omega 3 fatty acids derived from fish oil and are very useful in the recovery and healing stages.

However, maximizing these nutritional intake is not easy. Because, there are side effects of cancer therapy that usually, most patients have difficulty eating. Umi Mangesti Tjiptoningsih discussed this in depth.
