The action is initiated by La France Insoumise in the name of a “common good that cannot be commodified”.
Communiqué from the Dijon action groups of rebellious France:
Citizen vote: Water is ours!
A consortium of associations and political movements is launching a major national popular education campaign to defend water as a common good that cannot be commodified for the profits of multinationals. In parallel with the parliamentary commission of inquiry on the seizure of water resources by private interests and its consequences chaired by Mathilde Panot (deputy and vice-president of the group La France insoumise to the National Assembly), a citizens’ vote is organized from Monday March 22 (World Water Day) to Tuesday April 13.
Our fellow citizens are led to answer the question “are you in favor of the inclusion in the French constitution of the right to water and sanitation, to protect water and to prohibit its grabbing by multinationals? “.
In Dijon, a voting point will be organized on Saturday April 10, 2021, place du Bareuzai from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
