NEW YORK – The famous Saks Fifth Avenue clothing store, located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, has decided to stop selling animal fur products by the end of fiscal year 2022, the company announced Wednesday in a statement. This means by the end of January 2023.
The company clarified that with this they agree not to offer animal products such as mink, fox, chinchilla and sable; nor are products made from the fur of wild animals such as coyote and beaver.
The plan, the store said, is to begin with the closure of leather salons by the end of fiscal year 2021, that is, the end of January 2022, and eliminate products sold by brand partners by the end of fiscal year 2022, that is January 2023.
Saks Fifth Avenue will continue to sell synthetic leather products, as well as those products that include:
• Sheepskin / lambskin, goatskin, or cattle skin, (for example, “pony” and “calf hair”).
• Down / feathers
• Leather
The new change will apply to all merchandise sold online and in Saks Fifth Avenue stores, including trademark and private label products, they added.
