“The main disadvantage of the tripartite coalition against Borissov is that they very lightly underestimate the likelihood that he will recover.”
Dr. Nikolai Mikhailov commented on bTV the post-election situation and the profile of the new parliament.
There was a brief euphoria in the post-election night when GERB won, true, but also lost, the political initiative. Lose it, but not completely, let’s tell the truth and not succumb to the logic of euphoria. Now both sides are in the process of sobering up, but paradoxically I notice that GERB is taking the initiative at the moment.
I think that what Borisov did in front of his wall in Bankya, next to the jeep, with the snowflakes on top, which blessed it, so to speak, as an icon of the Bulgarian political reality – this is a very interesting manifestation, which took place as a confession. A one-man show, in which, first, a man in the corner felt himself, both won and lost. And at the same time
he issued warnings from the mafia register, let’s face it.
Because he felt – this is his idea – that revenge on the forces that won against him in the political process meant, presumably, some street action, and some tearing of soft tissues and breaking of bones. He said: Don’t do this because we also have healthy boys, I can call them. He experienced himself at one point and announced that this is how he experiences himself – as the leader of a mafia group. This is don Corleone from the movie. Very bad! But in a sense for another and very spectacular way confessed, it is very informative.
Second, he immediately grabs the initiative because he has an instinct.
He says: From now on, it will be you, because apart from our complaint, which may not look like a strict policy, but is a street policy that I am biographically familiar with, you will now commit to the state immediately.
There is a very big issue in the already rhetorical media and positional struggle between Borisov and anti-Borisov – we have no right to hold on to our throats while the Bulgarian people are in a severe, unpredictable crisis. So we have to take responsibility for the state. Please show the Bulgarian people your state capacity. Because it’s one thing to sing songs in a studio or in a square, it’s another to run the country. Whatever you say about me, he says in a subtext, and you can talk a lot because you specialize in doing it, rightly or wrongly, he does not comment.
But there is no one else, he claims, who can take responsibility for this country, I do it, I am a very big person, I am extra big, I am a big boastful rhetoric, I am in this sense a unique person.
Everyone knows that I am a resurrected Ganyo on the throne.
I know very well that I am simple in the realm of the simple, that people still love me, even though they are briefly distracted by your propaganda. But very soon they will have to grieve for me. Because they will see what you can do. And you will not be able to form a government.
Everything that Mrs. Sacheva says here: We will do everything for the Bulgarian state, which means for the Bulgarian people. Everything! Including we will give deputies – as if this is something that is taken out of a bag and cursed there in the parliament in order to make some movements to serve the opposition.
All their logic is authoritarian, goes through Borissov’s mentality and is scandalous. She is in a sense
constantly informs the Bulgarians that this is a mafia government.
But this revelation is not enough, we must really take responsibility for the state. Therefore, from now on, if not a government, these people, this three-party coalition against Borissov will have to learn adequate rhetoric and political messages, responsibility. At the moment I think they are inadequate. They are unable to talk to each other seriously, they have no confidence in their own strength, they are more of an electoral than a state phenomenon. They are winning elections, but they are not convincing to anyone, at least at this stage, that they can govern this country effectively in a crisis. Very soon, if they do not govern it, they will have to send adequate politically very responsible messages. They must have speakers. None of them are speakers, that’s very bad.
These are a little distracted people. They think that their career from the elections onwards will run like a kind of hoax about discrediting Borissov and sending him into the corner of the ring. It’s not just that, it’s not that. I am very strongly against Borissov’s government from the very beginning, I am one of the sarcastic critics of this government, I believe that it is a political anomaly because of its origin, mentality, habits and actual power. Because his power is corrupt, of course.
But there must be a serious and responsible political force against this, not amateurs.
Some will argue that the country will be run by experts, not by the people who blocked the election. Surely there may be people who can reassure with their broadcasting that they are capable of governing the country. This must happen. This will happen either if they form and agree on a transitional expert cabinet, or if they transfer the entire responsibility of the President of the Republic to form it. This certainly has advantages in the calculations and certainly has disadvantages.
The main disadvantage is that they very lightly, I think, underestimate the likelihood of Borissov recovering. And second, they overestimate their own power to reproduce much better electorally. They refer to some intuition that when an opposition political force wins once, it then increases its own votes in repetition. Maybe, maybe … I’m questioning all this. I do not know.
I have, unfortunately, the intuition that Borissov will pursue them, breathe in their necks, and he does so, to my great regret, with the efficiency that is inherent in him. Because he has the instinct of a political animal. He has needed this instinct since the days of the PEC, and now it is helping him in this situation as well.
