Initially, Atta’s controversial statement appeared in podcast on YouTube The Hermansyah on February 12, 2021, before Atta and Aurel Hermansyah legally became husband and wife. Atta is interviewed by Ashanti, who is now her mother-in-law.
In the conversation, Atta said that he had discussed with Aurel the principles of life after marriage. According to Atta, when married, the husband’s voice is from God.

Atta’s statement went viral on social media. Responding to this statement, Komnas Perempuan criticized the patriarchal statement. Patriarchy is a system that places the social position of men above women.
“Komnas Perempuan is certainly concerned and disappointed over Atta Halilintar’s patriarchal statement and using the institution of marriage or family as a medium to perpetuate forms of gender injustice,” Komnas Perempuan Commissioner Siti Aminah told reporters on Wednesday (7/4/2021).
