Mothers and fathers of CEIP Maestro Rojas de Nerva students gather at the school gates to protest the elimination of one of the 4-year-old education lines that the Territorial Delegation of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía will carry out the next school year 2021-22. The measure would lead to the reduction of the teaching staff by one less teacher and the grouping into two classes of 25 and 26 4-year-old students, many of them with specific needs.
The spokeswoman for the group affected by the measure and president of the Ampa García Lorca of the Nervense school, Ana Belén Canelada does not share the motivations expressed by the regional Administration to eliminate the educational line and refuses to admit that it is due to a simple financial issue. “We will not stop until we get the replacement of it, as planned by the Directorate of the center, because we can not consent, under any pretext, the worsening of the educational and care quality that our sons and daughters are receiving,” he warns .
Currently, CEIP Maestro Rojas It has three lines of 3-year-old children’s education that were granted by the high number of users who to attend, as well as the specificities of the students who came from kindergarten. “At all times we believed that those responsible for the Delegation would offer our students a better educational quality with the use of smaller groups, with the provision of specialized and support teachers per classroom, and the material resources necessary for each classroom. In this way, it is being able to work with these 3-year-old groups normally, taking into account the COVID environment in which we live, offering commendable educational and assistance care. And this is what is at stake ”.
Precisely for this reason, and taking into account that the characteristics of this group of 3-year-olds have not changed “not one iota” in the face of the new school year, “we cannot understand what sense the elimination of one of the lines of 4 years, since This decision will only result in the deterioration of education received by our sons and our daughters, as the school management will have to attend at least the same number of students (if not more), but with fewer teachers and fewer financial and material resources ”, clarifies the spokesperson.
Canelada recalls that “CEIP Maestro Rojas is a compensatory center, and as such it must have greater support from the competent Administration and not vice versa. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the three existing classes in the current course. Likewise, we would like to take the opportunity to thank the support received at all times, both by the CEIP Directorate and by our partners before the presentation of a formal complaint registered in the provincial delegation last March ”.
The director of the school, Manuel Gabriel Ortega has shown his support to the affected group and hopes that the Ministry of Education will respond to the request of the mothers and mothers of students because “it is justice.”
For his part, the mayor of Nerva, José Antonio Ayala, present at the rally along with several of the councilors of the local government team, has criticized the contradiction that, in his opinion, the Andalusian government enters when it assures on the one hand fight against the depopulation of the rural world and on the other eliminates the educational lines of small towns in rural Andalusial. “They are discouraging what is public to encourage what is private. This claim is fair and that is why we support it and make it our own ”, he stresses.
A month ago, the mothers and fathers of CEIP Maestro Rojas students already asked the Territorial Delegation of Education and Sports to reconsider the elimination of the educational line of 4 years of childhood, as well as its replacement for the next school year, as as planned by the management of the center. For now, the regional administration does not contemplate reversing in the decision adopted, alluding that “it is within the ratio established by law”.
