Former SIE deputy, Silviu Predoiu, announces his resignation from Pro Romania and claims that in the last 15 months he has seen “how politics should not be done”. Predoiu points out that the reasons for his resignation are exactly those that determine many Romanians to have contact with the political world.
“When I decided to enlist in a political party, I considered it correct, given my previous status, to publicly assume this decision, through a post on Facebook. There were few who encouraged me then.
Also, immediately after the very poor result recorded in the parliamentary elections of December last year, I was the first member of the party leadership who, also publicly, announced that he remains in the party to help change the way politics is done in our country. This time the number of those who sent me their support was significantly higher.
Today, 15 months after the registration of the application for membership, I decided, not easily, to withdraw from the party and, if not for other reasons, then only for symmetry it seems appropriate to communicate it publicly. I don’t know what your reaction will be this time, but we’ll find out together.
I presented the concrete reasons for my decision this morning in my resignation, and they are of little relevance to most of you. Each day spent in the party was an experience in itself and all in one place. they helped me better understand what the “world of those who want to rule the world” looks like on the inside.
I met in the party, in the center and in the territory, wonderful, sincere, honest, altruistic people, brought there by the sincere desire to do something for others, for the community. I want to thank them for the way they received me and apologize if my gesture surprises and confuses them.
I also met people I would not have wanted to meet, small people but with huge ambitions, animated only by interests, without any beliefs or principles.
But that is, after all, the parties, or maybe especially these, are reproductions on the scale of the society from which they are born, with all its merits and strengths, and the party in which I chose to work is no exception.
In fact, I think the reasons why I am leaving this party are exactly the ones that make most of my acquaintances say they have nothing to do with politics. But even so, after all the lessons I have received, with all due respect, I cannot agree with them. Because politics is about us, politics or especially the way it is done deeply influences our lives and the crisis we are going through shows us more than ever how important is the coherence of public policies and, first of all, the quality of the people who promote them. . And if we really want to change for the better our lives and those around us, we need to get involved. We will probably not choose the right place in the first attempt, we will probably not find the most appropriate form of action from the beginning, but nothing is gained by waiting and the fear of failure is more dangerous and, implicitly, more harmful than failure in sine.
I have learned in the last 15 months, watching and listening, many new things, both from the “so yes” and from the “so no” category. I saw how politics should not be done and what a party should not look like. I still haven’t learned enough about how things should be in politics, but I won’t give up until I succeed. Someone said that you are defeated not when you fall but only when you refuse to get up. I get up and I would be happy if as many of you as possible will do the same thing, ”writes Silviu Predoiu.
