Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela, who is under investigation by UEFA and Scotland Yard on suspicion of racism, will not travel to London to play Arsenal on Thursday in the first leg of the quarter-final of the Europa League, due to injury, said the Czech club on Tuesday.
UEFA later announced that as a “provisional” measure, it decreed a suspension match against Kudela, pending its Disciplinary Committee to decide on the merits of the case.
Kudela is suspected of having uttered racist words against Glasgow Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara in the round of 16 last month at Ibrox Park.
Slavia denied these accusations and denounced Kamara, who allegedly attacked Kudela with punches after the match.
The Czech club specified that its player suffered a “concussion to the nose and fever” and was taking “antibiotics” after a blow with his team in a World Cup qualifying match against Wales.
