Transfers: LA Galaxy-Valenciennes agreement at 5 million euros for Kévin Cabral

While the transfer market is closed in France, and even in agony, Valenciennes is on the way to achieve a great coup. VA will transfer Kevin Cabral to the Los Angeles Galaxy. The most successful club in MLS (5 titles) agreed, during this Easter weekend, with the northern leaders who could not refuse such an operation these days. The Californian franchise will pay 5 million euros to buy the contract of the young 21-year-old striker.

10 goals and 5 assists in 32 matches this season

It is one of the biggest transfers in the history of VA, but also of the LA Galaxy. Trained at PSG, Cabral arrived in Valenciennes in the summer of 2017. This left winger had signed in February 2019 a first professional contract until June 2024. The player from Cape Verde caught the eye of Jovan Kirovski this winter. The Californian technical director came in scouting in France for ten days alongside representatives of the agency Elite Athletes, who had already placed the former Monegasque Samuel Grandsir in the ex-club of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Jovan Kirovski, who played for Manchester United and won the Champions League in 1997 with Borussia Dortmund, is a connoisseur of the European and especially French market. Former striker and close to David Beckham, he fell in love with Kévin Cabral, who is part of the revelations of Ligue 2 this season. The winger scored ten goals (including seven in L2) in thirty-two performances with VA and delivered five assists in all competitions. The formalization of this signature is imminent, with a five-year lease in the key for the new Californian recruit who should evolve with the Mexican international Javier Hernandez “Chicharito” in attack of the LA Galaxy.

Kévin Cabral will be part of a new category of players in MLS called “Young designated players”. This allows franchises to attempt blows on recruits under 23 without entering the payroll granted by the MLS. This Championship resumes on April 17. The California franchise will move to Inter Miami. The American dream will take shape for Kevin Cabral against world champion Blaise Matudi and former Juventus Turin striker Gonzalo Higuain.
