“ Call of Duty: Mobile Developer Reached $ 10 Billion in 2020 Sales ” – Gaming – News

How many of them are kids who are chasing their parents, I think.

Very few, of course, there are always parents who screw up their children by giving them everything they want, when they want it. And of course it sometimes happens that a child with a credit card from Mom / Dad gets off, but that goes well until the bill comes in and Mom / Dad will check everything. You really aren’t putting in $ 10 billion, and that’s just part of the $ 86 billion spent on mobile gaming in 2020.

As a 44 year old I spend a few bucks a year on mobile gaming, but those are almost always “Pay once, play forever” games. That puts me above the average of the 2.2 billion mobile gamers out there.

When we talk about f2p / p2w games, I hardly play them on mobile, but on the PC that is a different story. f2p games with a subscription, mmo’s with a subscription, tickets for ccg, in-game purchases, etc. I would like to spend more on that than a few tens, depending on the year, what I play and what you do / do not include below is possible can easily rise to a few hundred euros per year. Do not forget that if you play WoW, for example, you have already spent € 130 + on your subscription and if you then buy Shadowlands you will already easily start tapping € 200 for the year for 2020.

For example, I recently started Black Desert Online (f2p mmo) and spent € 30 on one tent (and that’s all they get from me for the next few months). But there are a lot of adults who spend a lot more than that per month and then you have to realize that there is also a mobile version of it that adults spend just as much on. In that respect, it makes little difference whether you are a gamer on a console, a PC or a mobile device. Also make no mistake about how powerful some smartphones / tablets are, so in terms of graphics that is not inferior. And how many of those mobile gamers play that during their break, in public transport, next to the partner on the couch when they are watching TV, in bed when you cannot sleep yet, etc.

And don’t forget that you pay between $ 2 and $ 7 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks, for example, how much does a beer / coke on a terrace or in a pub cost? What do you spend on an evening at the pub / cinema? All fleeting pleasure and that is not very different from f2p / p2w purchases, many of which are not even as fleeting as a cup of coffee (for example, that € 30 tent is always linked to my account, now and forever). If a gamer skips a night out, you can buy quite a bit of virtual junk …

For every adult who throws a few hundred a year at it, ten (dozens of) kids can play for free or just buy their own pocket money / side job every now and then. However, the majority of those kids often don’t because they don’t want to spend the little money they have on such volatile purchases (always exceptions, of course). Of course it depends very much on what your income is, but for everyone who earns below the average income, someone above the average earns …
