Nîmes: a series of walkouts in Carrefour stores in the Gard

CFDT and CGT mobilized yesterday for better wages and working conditions.

After the mobilization of employees of Carrefour Supply Chain warehouses, especially in the Mitra zone, the large-scale distribution giant was hit yesterday by walkouts of employees of supermarkets and hypermarkets. In the Gard, at the call of the CGT and the CFDT, gatherings took place in front of the stores of Uzès, Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Beaucaire and on the site of Nîmes Ouest.

We endure the anguish and aggressiveness of customers “

“The demands relate to the increase in wages especially when we see the good results of the group, hiring, working conditions and the payment of the second Macron bonus”, summarizes one of the officials of the CGT departmental union of Gard Thierry Ménard.

Present among the fifteen employees gathered in front of the entrance to the Nimes Star shopping mall, the CFDT delegate of the Nîmes Carrefour hypermarket Olivier Lange, for his part, regretted the level of increase in remuneration this year: “We want an average wage increase of 1.6% like last year and not the 0.4% announced by management, ie half the increase in the minimum wage on January 1. We are in the second line. We have the stress linked to the Covid crisis. We suffer from the anguish and aggressiveness of customers. We must take that into account.

Olivier Lange calls for better working conditions, especially at the cash desks, regretting the closure of some and the waiting for customers.

Signed agreement

Carrefour management indicates for its part that the group was the only major retailer to pay a bonus of € 1,000 to its employees: “A profit-sharing and profit-sharing bonus of € 1,350 on average was paid due to the good results of 2020. The upgrading of Carrefour store employees was the subject of an agreement signed on March 24 by FO, a union the most represented, the CGC and the CFTC “, adds management.
