JAKARTA – Snapchat partners with hype clothing and accessories brand Off-White by Virgil Abloh to launch the Lens augmented reality experience, marking intense collaboration in 2021.

Snapchat and Off-White both come from America. Snapchat is an application for sending temporary pictures and has a wide selection of filters that are its mainstay. Recently, the application has been increasingly aggressive in targeting users in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, founded in 2013 by Virgil Abloh, Off-White is an urban style brand (streetwear) but packaged in a luxurious (high-end) concept. The price of Off-White is quite premium, and it has a limited stock, therefore hypebeast (fans of hype goods) are very interested in it.

Well, Snapchat and Virgil teamed up on a Lens that allowed Snapchatters to try virtually a selection of three AR Off-White face masks inspired by the SS21 collection on Snapchat’s Bitmoji Selfies. Snapchatters can also purchase masks directly through Off–White.com.

According to Snapchat, Lens AR was developed to encourage Snapchatters to continue wearing face shields in interesting and creative ways, and ultimately protect their health during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Snapchatter’s health and safety is always the top priority for Snapchat,” wrote their official statement. “We are always thinking of new and creative ways to support the well-being and mental health of our community,”.

This collaboration is the latest collaboration series from Snap X Artist who has previously worked with several artists such as Damien Hirst, Christian Marclay, Alex Israel and Harmony Korine, by leveraging technology to demonstrate how the digital world and the physical world can come together to provide creativity and self- expression to a new audience.
