‘Lessen van Lieke’ is a new Youtube series.
The first episode of the Youtube series ‘Lessen van Lieke’ is online. In the series, teacher Lieke Merkens shows what it is like to work as a nurse. Although she works as a teacher for Mbo-Rijnland, the videos are intended for anyone interested in nursing or care and welfare.
Merkens was inspired by the interests of her students. “The nursing program deals with a target group that spends a lot of time on social media and YouTube. At the time I thought: why don’t we make use of that in education? ”She says in the Evening of Sleutelstad. Her goal is to let (prospective) students also work online with their future profession.

The Youtube series is supplementary to education, Merkens emphasizes. “I do think that education is undergoing a movement that will give it a newer look.” The videos also allow for topics that would not otherwise have been covered in class. For example, in every episode there is a guest to speak about the subject, something that is more difficult to achieve in the lessons.
A new episode will be released every week for the next nine weeks. The videos can be seen on the Youtube channel of Mbo-Rijnland.
