Düsseldorf The number of new infections in North Rhine-Westphalia is falling slightly. However, incidence values in Wuppertal, Krefeld and Düsseldorf remain high.

The corona situation in North Rhine-Westphalia was a little more relaxed on Easter Sunday than on Easter Saturday. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported an incidence of 125.0 for North Rhine-Westphalia. On Holy Saturday, the RKI reported a value of 128.0 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. The rate of new infections decreased slightly for the fifth day in a row. North Rhine-Westphalia was slightly below the nationwide incidence of 127.0.

However, the RKI pointed out that fewer people go to the doctor around Easter days and therefore fewer samples are taken and laboratory tests are carried out. This leads to less evidence being reported to the health authorities. It could also be that not all health authorities and state authorities transmitted to the RKI every day.

Situation in Wuppertal, Düsseldorf and Krefeld

In Wuppertal, the seven-day incidence on Easter Sunday was 177.4 according to the RKI. In Krefeld the weekly value was at 131.0 and Düsseldorf leveled off around 100.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

According to the RKI (as of April 4, 2021, 03:08 a.m.), new 2765 corona cases were reported in NRW within one day. Nine people died as a result of an infection.
