KAIRO, KOMPAS.TV – Even though the Suez Canal has reopened after being jammed because the cargo ship Ever Given ran aground, news about the Suez Canal is still being searched, especially regarding the cause of Ever Given’s closing one of the most important shipping canals.
The name Marwa Elselehdar (29), the captain of the first female ship in Egypt, appears to be the one to blame for congestion on the Suez Canal.
Marwa, who found out that her name was circulating online, said she was surprised why she was to blame.
Yet when the Suez Canal was blocked, Elselehdar was working as the second most responsible person in command of the ship Aida IV, hundreds of miles away in Alexandria.
The ship, which belongs to Egypt’s maritime security authority, is on a mission to provide supplies to a lighthouse in the Red Sea.
