Banten Contributes Half of National Covid-19 Cases Today

Positive Covid-19 in Banten has reached 3,500 people a day.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Province Banten sitting in first place in the addition of positive cases Covid-19 daily on this Sunday (4/4). Banten contributed 3,501 new cases from the results of specimens examination during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta, which is usually in the top ranking, today is in second place with 736 new cases.

The high contribution of positive figures from Banten also boosted the number of new cases nationwide today. There were 6,731 recorded coronavirus case just on this Sunday (4/4). This figure is a slight increase compared to the number of cases reported in the last week, which ranged from around 4,000 to 5,000 cases.

In addition, the low testing capacity on weekends also contributed to the increase in the daily Covid-19 positivity rate. With 33,881 people examined in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate for Covid-19 today was recorded at 19.8 percent. This figure is quite high considering that during the past week the positivity rate has never reached 14 percent.

Another note, the death rate due to Covid-19 also jumped very high. There were 427 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This figure is fairly high, considering that in the last week the number of patients who died with a positive status for Covid-19 was consistently below 200 people. The total number of patients who died due to Covid-19 in Indonesia reached 41,669 people.

However, in addition to the slightly increasing number of cases, the cure rate also continues to increase. The Task Force reported that there were 9,663 patients who were declared cured of Covid-19 today. So that the total number of patients recovered reached 1,375,877 people.
