The Xbox fridge is actually an old box. Nothing is as old as the meme from the day before yesterday! But now it is completely up-to-date again. Because Microsoft will produce and sell a mini fridge in the look of the Xbox Series X. That sounds like an April Fool’s joke and, to be honest, you could still take it for you today. But Microsoft is serious.
The “Xbox refrigerator” appeared for the first time shortly after the Xbox Series was first presented. Why is obvious. Fans quickly began to find out about the next-gen console designs that took getting used to on social media to amuse. The new Xbox was one pretty quick oversized refrigerator.
Microsoft picked up the ball
Microsoft picked up the ball and reminded fans that the xbox is much smaller than a refrigerator. All of this later culminated in a marketing gag Snoop Dogg, who presented a real Xbox refrigerator in a media-effective manner. Another refrigerator was raffled off on Twitter. Custom-made products for this purpose alone, of course. Just recently, mini-fridges actually appeared on a marketing stunt with Dwayne The Rock Johnson. The fridges went without exception to influencers.
But now the story takes on a new twist.
On Twitter, the best company account was chosen in a vote on the official Twitter marketing account. The two US brands Skittles and Xbox were in the final. Over 340,000 users cast their votes and it was a very close result. Xbox won 50.5% to 49.5%. As an aside: On the way to the final, Xbox had prevailed against Spotify and MTV. Skittles won against Oreo and Wendys.
The Promises of Skittles and Xbox
Okay, so what? Skittles mobilized his fans, by promisingto bring back the lime-flavored skittles in case you win. They no longer exist and apparently they were very popular. Xbox countered in the form of Xbox General Manager Aaron Greenberg and promisedTo make Xbox Series X mini-fridges if you win. Greenberg’s promise was communicated on April 2nd. Due to the situation, he still felt compelled to assure that it was not an April Fool’s joke and not a clickbait. The race was on.
Well, the outcome of the election is known. Greenberg thanked him in one another tweet with fans and reiterated its promise to produce mini-fridges in the design of Xbox Series X. The first is to be filled with games and goes to Skittles. The others will then obviously be able to be bought. However, there are no more specific details yet.
