The Grasshoppers lost some of their comfortable lead in the 27th round of the Challenge League. The Zurich team lost 4-1 at home against relegated Neuchâtel Xamax, who had been relegated again
The veteran Raphaël Nuzzolo also occasionally scores for the Neuchâtel team. But Louis Mafouta, 26-year-old striker from the Central African Republic, has long outstripped Biel’s goal-getter. Mafouta scored the first three goals in Letzigrund, one of them on a foul penalty. With now 13 goals he is the second best goalscorer in the league. Only Schaffhausen’s Uruguayans scored one more goal. The Hoppers hit was a classic goal of honor: It only fell in the 90th minute.
For a long time it seemed as if FC Thun could not use the slip of the Hoppers in the home game against Wil. But after a goalless first half, coach Carlos Bernegger’s team prevailed 3-1. The Bernese Oberlanders only secured victory with a 3-1 win in stoppage time.
Before the last quarter of the championship, the difference between GC and Thun is only four points.
