MOSCOW, KOMPAS.TV – On Friday (02/04/2021), Russia said it would take a number of additional steps if the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) strengthened forces around Ukraine amid the Kiev-Donbas conflict.
Increasing NATO’s military presence will certainly escalate tensions near the Russia-Ukraine border, requiring Moscow to “take a number of additional steps to ensure its security,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Xinhua, Saturday, (03/04/2021)
To regard Russia as an enemy in this situation is completely unacceptable and inappropriate because Russia has never posed a threat to the other party, he continued.

Peskov added that Russia was not one of the parties in the conflict between Ukrainian government forces and Donbas rebels and could not guarantee a comprehensive ceasefire between them.
However, Russia can work to ensure that the previously reached agreements are fulfilled.
Peskov expressed serious concern over the “provocative actions” of the Ukrainian side and called the situation along the lines of contact in Donbas “very intimidating”.
