MA 01 integrates digital know-it-alls from the City of Vienna into Signal Messenger. It can now be reached there via its own mobile number +43 676 8118 53535.
Vienna (OTS) – Where can I find a cold box? How do I register my child in kindergarten? But questions about drinking fountains, garbage collection points, business registration, parking stickers, mandatory muzzles or when the next public transport leaves are no problem for the WienBot. The WienBot provided around 1.7 million answers to questions like these, but also all important information about the corona pandemic, via its app or website in the previous year: “In order to make the popular WienBot accessible to even more people, it is now also available via the free“ Signal ”messenger service with answers from over 350 subject areas. This is how digitalization has to be: Concrete solutions that provide the people in our city with clear benefits “, said City Councilor for Digitization Ulli Sima.
The ‘Signal’ messenger app is enjoying increasing popularity and is used by more than 100 million people worldwide: “The connection of the WienBot was a logical step. The best thing to do is to save the WienBot’s mobile phone number directly in the contacts. So that it is ready for use anytime and anywhere “, so Sima.
“There must be no barriers when it comes to questions about life in Vienna. The city must be accessible to the Viennese and everyone who lives in it and provide answers. An additional communication channel such as the ‘Signal’ messenger service ensures even more open interaction between the city administration and the people of Vienna “, says City Councilor for Economic Affairs Peter Hanke.
Highest security standards, best encryption
The service is free of charge for users and both “Signal” and the WienBot adhere to high standards of data security. Both are designed so that sensitive information is never collected. Messages cannot be intercepted either by the manufacturer or by third parties, as they are always fully encrypted, confidential and secure. Signal also does not pass on the location information of the cell phone to the WienBot.
Many roads lead to the WienBot
Not all, but at least three ways currently lead to the WienBot. In addition to the latest version via the “Signal” messenger, there are two other ways to get in touch with the WienBot: Either on the website https://wien.bot/, there you can chat directly with the WienBot. Or via the free “WienBot” app. In addition to the chat with the WienBot, it is also possible to use the location information and thus receive appropriate answers about the location (e.g. what short parking times apply here? When is the next public transport nearby?). The app also understands voice input in German, English and Viennese.
MA 01: WienBot also well equipped for increased crowds
Wien Digital provides the infrastructure for the connection to the “Signal” app and secures it according to the highest standards. The computers were virtualized so that the computer performance can be increased quickly even when there is a very large crowd. This means that the WienBot is well prepared for many new inquiries via “Signal”. These computers are also technically independent of the other contact channels for WienBot (app and website). Depending on the channel, the inquiries are processed on their own infrastructure.
