Tenerife’s hotel management association Ashotel has carried out its historic project of launching a Canarian airline. With this company, it is intended to improve the connectivity of the Archipelago, oriented to the needs of the island market. It was launched by One Airways, which was established a few months ago with a branch in the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC). The airline thus took another step in its expansion strategy, helping to boost regional economic activity, betting on a key sector to advance towards the economic diversification of the regional productive fabric, in addition to creating employment and enhancing the connectivity of the islands.
The presentation will take place tomorrow at the Cabildo de Tenerife in the presence of the island’s president, Pedro Martín; that of Ashotel, Jorge Marichal; and the CEO of One Airways, Óscar Trujillo.
The launch of this airline is the culmination of a work of many years that has had the determined impulse of Jorge Marichal, who has always defended the importance of having his own company that responds to the tourist interests of the Canary Islands.
It also has the backing of the Cabildo de Tenerife, which last December announced that in the budget of the island corporation for 2021 an item of 700,000 euros was reserved expressly for this purpose.
